Their facility in Bendigo produces high integrity steel castings for the mining and transport industries and various engineering applications.
We are seeking to employ a Product Development Manager for our Foundry in Bendigo.
Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position is responsible for the manufacturing of all new products.
With a focus on wear materials and Ground Engaging Tools (GET), the role is focused on analysing customer and market requirements and designing and developing innovative products and solutions, managing them from concept through to first article inspection (FAI).
The position has oversight of the Design, Methoding and Pattern Shop teams with accountability for the productivity and efficiency of staff and equipment.
Duties of the role include (but are not limited to):
Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to identify customer and market requirements and recommend new products and solutionsOversee the design and development of new products, from concept through to first article inspectionSupport the investigation of non-compliant products and the implementation of corrective actionsBalance delivering day-to-day design requirements whilst simultaneously working on multiple projectsResponsible for the leadership and development of the Design, Methoding and Pattern Shop teamsOversee all product innovation; design; validation and field trial functionsConduct weekly innovation and design meetingsProvide technical support to customers and the manufacturing teamOptimise methoding of castings and product performanceDevelop quality and testing procedures to ensure production integrity and customer requirements are being achievedEnsure all procedures, documentation and drawings are current and compliant to relevant standardsThe successful candidate must possess the following attributes:
Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent experienceA minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical product design engineering and project management involving engineered steel with strong knowledge of steel composites manufacturing, their physical properties and practical applicationsPrior experience in the implementation of design standardsMeet the requirements of Derwent's Fit for Work PolicyFollow health, safety and environment policies and procedures to ensure their own safety and the safety of those around themPeople leadership and coaching skillsStrong analytical skills and able to solve engineering design and field problemsExcellent communication skills, both oral and writtenPrior experience with ground engaging tools, mining materials transport and wear managementPrior exposure to pattern makingRemuneration will be negotiated with the successful applicant, based on skill level and experience.
