Purchasing, Procurement & Inventory (Manufacturing, Transport & Logistics) Randstad Defence is currently working with a top tier Defence business who specialise in advanced technologies that support a diverse range of platforms for both land and maritime domains.
Due to the high demand of their products and company growth we are seeking a Procurement Sourcing Manager to source from external vendors & manage delivery in accordance to commercial, production and supply chain management objectives.
This is a permanent full-time position based in their Canberra Office.
The candidate must be an Australian citizen and be eligible to obtain a security clearance.
About the Role The purpose of this role is to develop and create a sourcing strategy for materials used across production facilities in Australia.
You will be tasked with managing supplier performance in order to achieve commercial, production, and supply chain management objectives.
Role responsibilities: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
Choose vendors based on technical and commercial needs, aiming to get the best value for money.
Improve our global supply chain efficiency and strategy.
Review and develop supplier capabilities to ensure timely delivery and high quality.
Manage supplier agreements and pricing using internal system.
Develop procedures for handling quotes and vendor management.
Address vendor lead time issues and manage disputes.
Support costing and estimating for projects and after-market needs.
Oversee vendor onboarding and off-boarding.
Maintain understanding of production schedules and stock levels.
Assist with expediting orders and keeping systems updated.
Learn about our materials, specifications, and manufacturing processes.
Identify and eliminate waste in procurement.
Lead supplier visits and identify improvements in the supply chain.
Share demand forecasts with vendors and support the technical procurement team.
Assist in training supply chain team members.
Ensure financial analyses and approvals for procurement are done correctly.
Address quality and specification issues with vendors.
Support quality team objectives, including supplier audits.
Manage relationships with key suppliers and report on their performance.
Act as a deputy for the VP - Supply Chain when needed.
Participate in safety and improvement activities.
Experience in international sourcing and procurement.
Similar experience in a relevant industry such as manufacturing and/or engineering organisation, OEM, FMCG, recognised Supply Chains.
Ability to negotiate, resolve issues, and manage vendor relationships effectively.
Experience in interpreting requirements of, and sourcing products and materials using engineering drawings and specifications.
Experience with certain manufacturing processes and procedures; electronic devices highly desirable.
Experience working with ERP systems and MRP systems.
APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Certified Planning and Inventory.
