About the DepartmentTreasury is the Government's lead economic adviser. We provide advice to the Government and implement policies and programs to achieve strong and sustainable economic and fiscal outcomes for Australians. We anticipate and analyse policy issues with a whole-of-economy perspective, understand government and stakeholder circumstances, and respond rapidly to changing events and directions.DutiesLead and manage the Treasury's procurement function. Working with the team to continue to grow and develop their knowledge and ensure consistency in advice.Provide specialist, technical advice and guidance to business areas in relation to all procurement activities to ensure that procurement activities are conducted in line with governance, probity and legislated requirements.Manage internal and external reporting requirements.Consult and collaborate with internal stakeholders and business areas, providing education and guidance on procurement.The successful candidate will have the following:A minimum of 3 years demonstrated experience in a central procurement team with a detailed, expert knowledge of procurement and contract management legislation, standards, policies and guidelines;Experience managing a small team;The ability to make decisions based on professional judgement that complies with legislative requirements and is consistent with standards, policies and operating procedures;Demonstrated experience being proactive and using problem solving and influencing skills to resolve procurement issues in a timely manner;A high level of customer service with a solutions and compliance focussed approach;The ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and being comfortable working in an environment of changing priorities with tight timeframes;The ability to think strategically, aligning the teams work with business needs and agency goals and objectives; andThe ability to work independently, be proactive and show initiative, within constraints set by senior management.This position is located in Canberra.
