Job Summary:
The Procurement Officer is responsible for overseeing purchasing activities, ensuring that purchased goods and services meet organizational standards, and achieving cost-effective procurement outcomes. The role involves researching suppliers, negotiating price, and maintaining strong vendor relationships to optimize the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities: Vendor Management: Establish and maintain relationships with key vendors (over 80 vendors), and regularly assess supplier performance. Purchasing: Coordinate purchasing processes, including issuing purchase orders, reviewing quotations, and ensuring timely delivery of goods and services. Maintain pricing on system. Negotiation: Negotiate favorable pricing, terms, and conditions to secure cost-effective deals while maintaining quality standards. Inventory Control: Monitor stock levels and coordinate with warehouse to avoid overstocking or stockouts. Over 2000 stock items. Regularly check for backorders to ensure timely ordering of required items. Run appropriate reports to generate forecast and maintain order accuracy. Creating and maintain items on system. Budgeting / Forecasting: Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the procurement budget and forecast. Market Research: Conduct research on new and alternative suppliers, materials, and products to ensure competitive pricing and quality. Risk Management: Identify potential risks within the supply chain and develop strategies to mitigate them. Qualifications: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or a similar role. Strong negotiation and communication skills. Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of market trends and sourcing techniques. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Analytical and problem-solving skills. Decision-making and negotiation skills. Strong interpersonal skills.
