About us Queensland Hydro is a publicly owned entity established by the Queensland Government to design, deliver, operate and maintain long duration pumped hydro energy storage assets that will be the cornerstone for the transformation of the state's energy system.
The organisation will drive delivery of world-class pumped hydro assets to provide the long-term storage and reliability needed to power Queensland's clean energy future. The organisation will play a critical role in assisting the Queensland Government to meet its renewable energy targets and net zero emissions by 2050, supporting the shift in the Australian economy to a decarbonised energy system.
The Purpose This is to lead and direct a functional Major transactions procurement team with the provision of procurement and contract management services, including planning and sourcing of major infrastructure partners and goods and services in support of the delivery of the QLD Hydro strategic priorities.
The Role Lead and provide strategic guidance on end-to-end procurement and contract management processes to ensure timely, efficient, and compliant delivery of goods and services aligned with best governance practices.
Advise stakeholders on best practices, promote procurement awareness, and implement Queensland Government BPP/BPIC requirements.
Develop supplier strategies, foster continuous improvement, and manage the QLD Hydro Initiative while ensuring value-for-money outcomes.
Mentor team members, maintain strong supplier relationships, and deliver comprehensive reporting to senior leadership on performance metrics and procurement policies, ensuring adherence to WH&S policies.
About you The ideal candidate should have over 10 years of experience in major infrastructure procurement, particularly within government entities or large-scale projects, and hold formal qualifications in procurement or business management.
They must demonstrate expertise in both standard and alternative procurement strategies for major infrastructure projects, with highly developed negotiation skills to finalize significant contracts. Specific experience with Queensland Procurement Policy, BPP, and BPIC is highly desirable.
Strong interpersonal skills, strategic management capabilities, excellent written communication, team leadership, and a solid understanding of procurement frameworks are also essential.
