Role Purpose Gexcon Australia is currently supporting multiple major projects in hydrogen, ammonia, batteries as well as traditional oil and gas and we are growing our local consulting business. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the energy transition and work with a global leader in process and technical safety.
As part of Gexcon Australia's expansion, we are looking for a new Process Safety engineer to join our team. The work we do is exciting and varied and can include:
Consequence Assessments using Gexcon's in-house software such as EFFECTS, FRED and FLACS. Risk assessment workshops such as HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, Bowtie etc. Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA) using software such as RISKCURVES and SHEPHERD. Safety Cases and Safety Report for Major Hazards Facilities. Providing process safety training to a range of clients and industries. Providing guidance to companies on Process Safety Management. Process safety audits. Incident investigations. You Bachelor's engineering degree- preferably chemical or mechanical engineering. 5 to 7 years of related experience in a relevant industry such as power generation and alternative energy, oil and gas, industrial chemicals, and nuclear or marine safety. Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication, including developing and delivering presentations. Experienced user of 2D and/or 3D consequence modelling and QRA software, preferentially Gexcon's X-Suite (FLACS, EFFECTS, RISKCURVES) and/or Shell FRED, Shepherd and PIPA as Gexcon is the exclusive licensing partner for these software packages. Commitment to engineering chartership through Engineers Australia or relevant discipline professional institution including dedication to continuing professional development. The Role Gexcon is looking for a Process Safety Engineer with experience in a range of process safety and technical safety areas and a willingness to learn from others.

Consequence assessments. Conducting QRA, including the development of credible release scenarios, determination of scenario frequency and modelling of consequence development. Conducting qualitative risk analysis, including benchmarking against industry good practices, codes and standards, and regulatory requirements. Writing or updating Safety Cases/Reports including the supporting Formal Safety Assessments. Facilitating or scribing Risk assessment workshops, such as HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA etc. Completing all project activities including documentation of assumptions, methodology and findings to a high standard, and in accordance with project schedules and specified budget. Presenting analysis results internally, and to clients, as required. Attendance and participation in conferences and business development opportunities. Providing process safety training to clients.
