I am excited to be partnering with Meander Valley Council in their search for a dedicated and experienced Human Resources Officer to join the team on a permanent basis.

Based in the beautiful community of Westbury, just a short 25-minute drive from Launceston, you will support the Executive and Middle Management teams in staff management, ensuring compliance with the Local Government Act 1993 (Tas) and other relevant legislation. You will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe, healthy, and positive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities: Provide accurate industrial relations advice to directors, supervisors, and employees.Support human resource processes including recruitment, training, performance management, and grievance resolution.Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies.Manage workers' compensation claims and act as the Return to Work Coordinator.Coordinate internal and external training opportunities.Oversee the annual performance review process.Participate in workplace health and safety and health & wellbeing committees.Coordinate employee induction and termination processes.Support enterprise bargaining processes.Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the People & Safety team.Assist with employee engagement initiatives, including surveys and workshops.Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:Diploma in Human Resources or a related field, with at least two years of relevant experience.Proficiency in all HR functions, including recruitment, training, performance management, and grievance resolution.Experience interpreting policies, awards, enterprise agreements, and legislation.Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence outcomes.High level of prioritization and time management skills, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.Ability to handle sensitive issues with confidentiality.Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office.Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.Current vehicle driver's license.Why Join the team:Be part of a team dedicated to creating a positive and supportive workplace with opportunities for professional growth and development.Engage in meaningful work that supports the Meander Valley community.HR projects to expand your knowledge.How to Apply: If you are a proactive and skilled HR professional looking to make a difference, we invite you to apply.
