As a Principal Specialist Cyber Security, you will: Provide technical expertise to successfully deliver the Cyber defence incident/threat detection and response capability. Be the Technical lead for Cyber Security Incident Response activities for Queensland Health. Review current technical detection and response capabilities for Queensland Health and provide guidance to management on how to address identified gaps. Implement tools and technologies that will allow Queensland Health to respond to various types of malware and threat actors, work closely with relevant operational teams to implement these technologies. Perform monitoring, research, assessment and analysis on enterprise security tools, Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), antivirus and vulnerability management systems etc which requires demonstrable security incident response experience. Perform initial risk assessment on new threats and vulnerabilities. Proactively respond to any potential cyber issues following pre-defined actions to handle BAU and High severity issues including escalating to other support groups. Execute daily adhoc tasks or lead small projects as needed. Investigate, document, respond and report on cyber security issues and emerging trends. Is this opportunity for you? The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
Vulnerability Management Platform Oversight (VMS) Experience working with a managed SOC service and internal technical teams, managing, maintaining, and patching vulnerability management platforms and infrastructure, ensuring their effectiveness in scanning and identifying vulnerabilities across the organisation's enterprise infrastructure attack surface. Experience continuously scanning and validating the presence of vulnerabilities that may affect QH systems, networks, and applications, staying vigilant for emerging threats. Experience in Vulnerability Triage - Actively triaging identified vulnerabilities, assess their severity, and impact, and prioritize them using a risk-based methodology to target remediation efforts efficiently. Experience in Remediation Coordination - Collaborating with business units and technology teams to coordinate and oversee remediation efforts, ensuring vulnerabilities are addressed promptly and effectively. Vulnerability Management Outreach – Experience promoting security vulnerability awareness sessions to relevant teams and stakeholders, emphasising the importance of patching and vulnerability management best practices. Endpoint Protection Platform (EPP): Experience in EPP Oversight Endpoint Security Threat Triage and Assessment experience – actively triaging identified threats, assessing their severity, and impact, and prioritising them using a risk-based methodology to target remediation efforts efficiently. Endpoint Security Policy Management experience Reporting and Documentation – Experience in detailed reporting on antivirus compliance and incident statistic across business units and technology teams, maintaining comprehensive records of policy exclusion management activities, and provide reporting to governance bodies as required. Hands on skill to chair migration from legacy Antivirus tools to Next Gen-AV is an added advantage.
