About the Role We are seeking a motivated Safety Professional to join the OS team, starting in early January 2025. This position can be offered in Brisbane, Adelaide or Perth on a Mon - Fri roster.
Reporting to the Manager Health & Safety (Technical) you will be responsible for the delivery of strategic safety improvement initiatives across the OS Asset. This role requires a level of strategic thinking and the ability to translate this into effective and fit for purpose operational practices.
You will support the design of OS-wide safety processes and initiatives that will help to improve health and safety maturity and make a difference to performance outcomes. In this role you will:
Establish effective and collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders; Define and drive effectiveness and standardization of processes in partnership with your peers across health and safety; Analyse and report on safety insights; Support implementation of the OS HSS strategy in collaboration with Operational and Functional partners; Support the delivery of Minerals Australia and Global HSS key HSS priorities. This role will support the OS Asset which has a diverse and dynamic team across Australia supporting the Coal, Copper, and Iron Ore Assets as well as training and repair centres in Perth and Mackay.
About You You will be an experienced and highly motivated safety professional with excellent communication and engagement skills and a passion for helping our people to be safer and healthier. You will also have:
Strong stakeholder engagement skills with a demonstrated capability to negotiate and influence internal and external stakeholders at a senior level; Proficient in independently managing time and progress to deliver key project milestones and troubleshoot barriers; Detailed knowledge of key concepts, theories and practices related to effective management of safety related risks, including material risk management processes; Knowledge and ability to leverage the BHP operating system and change management to seek better ways; Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation across the OS footprint (QLD / WA / SA); Tertiary degree in a safety, security, health, emergency management or related field (or equivalent experience).
