This position works within a small team environment with the aim of improving the health status of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through the provision of comprehensive and culturally appropriate primary health care services.
Midwife This position will provide comprehensive antenatal and postnatal care to the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) women of the Goldfields region.
A key component of the role is to work in partnership with other maternity providers to ensure women receive timely and culturally appropriate care with the aim of closing the gap in maternal health outcomes.
This position will also provide culturally appropriate specialist child health services to ATSI children and their families of the Goldfields Region through conducting scheduled child health screening, enhanced child health screening (ECHS), implementation of child immunisation programs and delivery of scheduled childhood immunisations.

ESSENTIAL:
Bachelor of Nursing and/or Midwifery qualifications; High level oral and written communication skills, including the ability to relate well to staff and to liaise effectively with key stakeholders; An understanding of the principles of Primary Health Care and the issues affecting ATSI women and families in the perinatal period; Demonstrated clinical experience in Diabetes Education; Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality and a high level of accuracy; Well-developed problem-solving skills and the ability to effectively determine priorities to ensure deadlines are met; Work effectively as a member of a team in an environment of competing priorities; Ability to undertake travel throughout the Goldfields, including overnight stays (of up to 3 nights in duration) as required; WA "C" Class drivers' licence. DESIRABLE:
Demonstrated experience providing community based antenatal and postnatal care in collaboration with other health providers and within the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council National Competency standards for a Midwife; Current Immunisation provider certificate; Experience using Communicare or similar electronic patient information and recall systems to document patient care and generate reports; Valid Working with Children Check (WA); National Criminal History Check Certificate (Police Clearance - valid within 3 months); Current AHPRA registration; Current First Aid & CPR certificate.
