About This Opportunity The University of Queensland (UQ) is seeking a permanent Principal, Research Communication to build UQ's reputation in research and engagement with industry, government and prospective research partners.
In this newly established team, you will be responsible for managing the implementation of communication and stakeholder engagement plans that support priority research areas, and driving cross-University collaboration to align marketing and communication efforts.
The team is part of the Marketing and Communication function, and will report to the Senior Manager, Research Communication.
Key responsibilities will include:
Develop and implement quarterly integrated marketing and communication plans to enhance UQ's positioning and reputation in priority research and industry sectors.
Support engagement and consideration among external national and international stakeholders including prospective research partners, government and industry through the implementation of sector-specific plans that coordinate whole-of-UQ efforts.
Establish strong working relationships with executives and researchers in research related areas to help inform quarterly plans and support their implementation.
Work collaboratively with marketing and communication teams (central, Faculty and Institute) to align and implement quarterly plans.
Develop original content across a variety of channels that supports quarterly sector-specific plans and engagement to key stakeholders.
Keep abreast of government and sector developments that impact the research sector and how to proactively leverage or respond to these opportunities.
About You Relevant tertiary qualifications with 6-8 years' experience in communication or corporate/public relations roles (or equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training).
Demonstrated expertise in implementing integrated marketing and communication plans that deliver outcomes that align to organisational priorities and engage a range of stakeholders such as government, business and industry partners.
Excellent interpersonal, influencing and advisory skills including the ability to work collaboratively with senior leaders, marketing and communication teams and researchers to create buy-in and achieve support for whole-of-UQ approaches and new initiatives.
Strong planning and project management skills and ability to juggle multiple competing priorities.
Experience using a variety of channels to reach and engage target stakeholders and developing a variety of content.
Demonstrated experience working in fast paced environment.
While desirable, it is not a prerequisite to have experience in research-related communication.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, education check.
