Your Opportunity
As the Principal Project Officer, Water and Energy, you will work closely with water sector agencies to plan their capital programs and review infrastructure proposals (business cases). Your goal will be to ensure that final proposals demonstrate strong alignment with whole-of-government priorities and infrastructure strategy, underpinning sound investment decisions. You will provide contemporary and timely advice to support agencies' capital planning and infrastructure proposal development in a strategic and collaborative manner. Your well-rounded communication and stakeholder engagement skills will be essential in identifying and contributing towards agencies' capability development opportunities, improving their overall infrastructure planning and delivery outcomes.

Engaging with Agencies: Evaluate and anticipate future requirements for advice and support in the development of capital plans and infrastructure proposals. Providing Advice: Support all stages of infrastructure proposal development, including advice and assurance on the application of the Business Case Development Framework and the Infrastructure Proposal Assurance Framework. Representing the Department: Attend meetings and forums with external stakeholders, promoting the benefits of robust planning and assessment. Preparing Feedback and Reports: Coordinate timely and high-quality feedback to agencies, as well as briefings, reports, Cabinet submissions, and correspondence on infrastructure matters. Staying Informed: Keep abreast of sectoral and functional knowledge relevant to the proposal development space, water sector, global and domestic energy transition agenda, and recent developments in the infrastructure and construction market. Contributing to Team Culture: Support team members and the director in achieving organizational priorities and reaching personal and professional goals.
