Exciting Role- Temporary, Full-time, Herston | Implement and support the continuity of the Patient Safety Net program as a reporting process by which health service staff across the state can escalate patient safety concerns to be addressed in a timely and appropriate manner
The role
In alignment with Queensland Health's core values, this role involves managing and coordinating key activities to implement and maintain a reporting process for health service staff to escalate patient safety concerns. You will employ project management and change management techniques, methodologies, and tools, ensuring the delivery of quality project outcomes. This includes overseeing the monitoring and reporting of project-related trends, evaluating project activities to align with corporate goals, and preparing and disseminating high-quality project documentation. Additionally, you will provide strategic advice and guidance to stakeholders and senior management on project-specific issues and maintain effective communications within and between internal and external networks.
Your responsibilities also include identifying and considering external trends and developments in practice for their relevance and potential benefits to the department. Continuously developing your own technical knowledge and expertise, you will offer authoritative advice to senior and executive management, utilizing your effective written communication skills for correspondence, briefings, and reports. Compliance with contemporary human resource practices and policies, including workplace health and safety, ethical behaviour, equal employment opportunity, and anti-discrimination, is essential. Adherence to defined service quality standards, health, and safety policies will ensure the provision of high-quality, safe services and workplaces.
The successful person
To excel in this role, you will need experience in managing stakeholder relationships to facilitate effective business change, including the ability to establish and influence key connections. Strong written communication skills are essential, particularly the ability to prepare timely, accurate, and well-organized briefings and reports.
Furthermore, you should have a proven record of accomplishment in managing large-scale, complex projects throughout all phases of the project life cycle within a clinical environment, utilizing project management and change management methodologies. High-level analytical, planning, and evaluation skills are also necessary, as is the ability to integrate related activities to achieve project deliverables and outcomes.
While not mandatory, a clinical background or relevant qualification would be advantageous. Additionally, it is a condition of employment for this role to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine-preventable diseases during your employment (Health Employment Directive No. 01/16): measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chickenpox), pertussis (whooping cough), hepatitis B, and tuberculosis.

The role of the Clinical Excellence Queensland (CEQ) is to drive the patient safety, quality improvement and clinical improvement agendas for the Queensland health system. It will achieve this by identifying, monitoring and promoting improvements in the quality of health services delivered by service providers (both Hospital and Health Services and private health facilities, globally and within Queensland), and support and facilitate the dissemination of best-practice clinical standards and processes that achieve better outcomes for patients. The quality improvement agenda is actively supported by a significant research agenda. The Division is also accountable for setting and supporting the direction for mental health, alcohol and other drug services in Queensland, as well monitoring and reporting on performance.
