Drive the management of development applications with strategic, informed decision-making that aligns with Council's goals, meets community expectations, and adheres to current planning legislation and guidelines. Lead your team to consistently achieve application timelines and key performance indicators, ensuring efficiency, accountability, and alignment with Council's vision.
Communication: Deliver expert, high-quality advice and correspondence on development assessment matters to both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring exceptional customer service. This will involve interpreting legislation and policy, to support decision-making.
Play a key role in the ongoing enhancement of the Unit by reviewing and refining procedures and guidelines, contributing to budget and business plan development, and fostering strong communication both within the Unit and across other Council units. Your contributions will help drive continuous improvement and ensure seamless collaboration throughout the organization.
Professional Development: Stay at the forefront of emerging trends and issues in land use and development assessment, ensuring the continuous growth and enhancement of the Unit's capabilities and expertise. What We're Looking For: As Principal Planner, your role is to deliver exceptional professional expertise within the Planning Assessment Unit as a key member of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team. As a senior team member, you will take the lead in managing complex development applications and providing strong leadership to support and elevate the team's performance.

You'll hold relevant or equivalent tertiary qualifications in town planning or Diploma in Local Government (Planning) and relevant professional experience. You'll have an Open Class C Driver's licence (Queensland) or equivalent.
