In this role you'll work with the Mine Engineering & Geology team as a Principal Mining Engineer, based in the Brisbane or Perth office.Plans and performs mining engineering duties related to development and production. We are experts in our field, and we are passionate about mining.What you'll do:Lead and manage mining engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.Provide expert advice on mining methods, feasibility studies, mine planning, and optimization strategies to clients.Review mine optimisation, mine design, mine scheduling, mining equipment selection and mining operating and capital cost estimates for open pit and/or underground mines.Oversee all aspects of the project lifecycle (proposal, contract, scope of work, technical quality and senior review) and consult with appropriate peers.Deliver technically appropriate and cost-effective solutions to clients which meet time, budget, quality and safety requirements.Carry out technical work in support of due diligence reviews supporting mergers, acquisitions under the supervision of other senior and principal engineers.Liaise with mining engineers, resource geologists, and specialists from other disciplines and offices within WSP.Undertake travel both domestically and internationally as required to support project work.Provide safety leadership in identifying and alleviating/eliminating high priority safety hazards.Mentor and support junior/senior engineers, providing guidance, training, and professional development opportunities.About you:Bachelor's degree in Mine Engineering.Previous demonstrated experience in a similar mining role.Strong proficiency in mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac) and other relevant mining software.Demonstrated leadership qualities and the ability to inspire and mentor junior/senior engineers.Excellent communication skills, strong report writing skills and solid analytical and problem-solving ability.Previous consulting experience will be highly regarded.About WSPWSP is one of the world's leading engineering professional services firms, bringing together approximately 6,000 talented people across 15 offices in Australia.
