Position Information Willoughby Public School is located in Northern Sydney and has a student enrolment of 908 with 50% EALD including an IM class.
Whilst providing strong academic programs with a sustained focus on English and mathematics, students enjoy specialist instruction in music and library.
We encourage students to explore their interests through extracurricular activities of band, dance, choir, sports teams, chess, gardening club, public speaking and debating.
The school has strong inclusive programs including student leadership opportunities.
The school enjoys strong community support with students, staff, parents, and the wider community working in partnership to promote school excellence.
Celebrating inclusion is at the heart of our community and will be a key initiative in our 2024 - 2027 Strategic Improvement Plan.
Our school benefits from a productive relationship with Willoughby Girls High School sharing facilities including canteen, hall, oval and student partnerships in learning.
Major capital works including a new hall, library and administration block, and future focused learning classrooms were opened in 2020.
Selection Criteria In addition to the general selection criteria: Demonstrated strength in leading strategic, researched-based pedagogy that enhances current best practice in curriculum delivery, assessment and wellbeing.
A visible, collaborative leader with exceptional interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to genuinely build and engage authentic partnerships with students, staff, parents/carers and the wider community.
High levels of emotional intelligence with the ability to build trust and develop innovative and cohesive partnerships across the whole school and wider community including external agencies, to effectively address complex student needs and plan for long term educational success.
Experience in leading an inclusive school culture that promotes and embeds the needs of diverse learners, families and staff in decision-making.
General Selection Criteria High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education.
Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs.
High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community.
Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning.
Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning.
Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.

The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school's RAM allocation.
As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis.
The principal classification for this school is Principal Level P3 for 2024 and also P3 for 2025.
Applicants are to include details of their WWCC clearance number as part of this application.
