About us:
We are a regional Emergency Department (ED) with an annual attendance of 50,000 presentations and 25% are paediatric. It is the referral hospital for Central Queensland and sees a wide range of complex multi-speciality cases.
This Department is led by emergency Physicians and Rural Generalists. We have 16-hour senior floor coverage with an on-call senior with a low-threshold to come in after hours. There are 20 full time employee's (FTE) Registrars/Principal House Officers, 8 Resident Medical Officers and 6 Interns covering the 24/7 roster.
About the role:
We are looking for a positive, enthusiastic, team-oriented Emergency Medicine Principal House Officer to join our department. The role has the responsibility for assessing and managing patients presenting to the emergency department including assisting more junior medical staff in managing their patients. The position will provide appropriate exposure and experience to enable the doctor to attain the required skills and knowledge for that term in emergency medicine.
About you: MBBS or equivalent to enable registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) at Level 3 supervision.If qualifications were obtained outside Australia, the candidate must be eligible for registration with AHPRA with the appropriate supervision level and provide the following:Evidence of successful completion of IELTS or equivalent English Language test results within the last year.Evidence of successful completion AMC MCQ (part 1) examination.Evidence of recency of clinical practice, supported by current references.Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.Current AHPRA general registration and a minimum of two years practice within the Australian healthcare system is preferred.Experience and qualifications in Emergency Medicine are well regarded.
