About the RoleReporting to the Manager of Resource Characterisation, you will be responsible for researching options, analysing data, assessing trends, identifying risks, and making recommendations on investments that will generate measurable project returns for their clients. This will be done through strong interface with the planning team and understanding of key approval risks, finance and cost analysis, scheduling and risk management through scenario planning.
The Principal Strategy and Studies will also participate in WAIO studies at various phases as well as define the geoscience annual strategy using a prioritisation framework, as well as manage internal projects to enable geoscience strategy.
Other responsibilities include:
Work collaboratively and provide inputs into studies including opportunity assessments as well as identification, selection and definition study phases with the ability to communicate geological risk to all stakeholders.Develop and embed processes to integrate value driving metrics.Training and mentoring in decision evaluation using value of information frameworks.Coordinate/lead inter-departmental improvement projects to improve geoscience work plans and products for both internal and external stakeholders.Engaging in major technical reviews and proposals, reviewing project proposals and schedules.Providing information for the technical risk register for use across Planning including approvals.Annual planning risk analysis using scenario planning to quantify impacts and plan mitigation strategies.About YouThe successful candidate should have:
Tertiary qualification in Geoscience, Engineering, Processing, Business, Finance or Project Management; postgraduate qualifications are highly desirable.Experience collecting and organising disparate datasets for meaningful analysis and recommendations.Experience developing strategy and associated key value driver metrics for project prioritisation.Strong communication skills; formal and informal, verbal and written. The ability to influence stakeholders by setting direction and providing sufficient communications to encourage buy-in and commitment at all levels.Experience/exposure in resource estimation and classification is highly desirable.Experience/exposure in strategic mine planning is highly desirable.Location You will be based in Perth on a 5:2 roster with ad hoc visits to site required.
