Electrical/Electronic Engineering (Engineering) We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Engineering Technician at our Perth CBD Office on a Permanent Full-Time basis.
You will be joining Western Power's Asset Management Team. Our Transmission Asset management team focuses on performing asset risk assessment, defining intervention plans to restore equipment to an acceptable performance level, develop the annual maintenance plan, provide support to operations to recover from failures on the network, Failure investigation and classification, and monitor the performance of the assets to drive asset selection and investment.
Your Role in Action This position is accountable for providing highly specialised and complex technical advice & guidance with regards to the purchasing and maintenance of the Transmission and Distribution primary plant assets.To act as a "centre of technical excellence" within the Business providing high level technical leadership and advice on best practice guidance where required and to provide "subject matter expert" advice and input into effective application of leading edge and industry best practice asset condition analysis, maintenance, and repair strategies for all primary transmission assets.Carry out audits on primary and secondary plant within the Western Power network.Continuous improvement and innovation within the team and across Western Power.What Makes You a Great Fit Cert III (ESI Distribution / Transmission Overhead / Power Systems Distribution Cable Jointing) and/or Electrical Trade Certificate.A diploma or tertiary qualification in electrical/electronic engineering is essential if experience criteria is not met.Current Electrical Workers License - essential.Preferably 15 + years comprehensive and broad demonstrated technical experience in the Networks business. Hold all appropriate industry licences or certificates of competency in accordance with the Energy Safety Act 2006.Extensive technical experience in a Networks business, especially transmission maintenance.Extensive knowledge of standards and regulations applicable to transmission assets.Reasonable knowledge of other disciplines associated with transmission facilities, including substation, protection, SCADA & communications.Demonstrated ability in applying continuous improvement methodologies.Must have excellent report writing skills and be able to communicate at all levels.Demonstrated ability to mentor and provide technical leadership.Good communication skills and customer focus.MS Office systems, Word, Excel & or Access.
