Principal Ecologist – Discipline Lead to assume leadership of the Brisbane Ecology line for a Global Sustainability & Design Engineering Consultancy.
Traditionally, the Ecology business line has just supported the larger infrastructure projects but the goal here is to create a stand-alone service offering that services internal projects as well as bringing in sole sourced workflows in Ecology.
The Role: The goal is Terrestrial Flora / Fauna to feed into larger Environmental Planning projects, Offsets, Biodiversity programs and broader horizons like solar, wind and hydrogen renewables projects. Current long-term projects in Transport Infrastructure spanning 2-3 years which will provide a base load of Ecological work for you to create a solid foundation upon which you can build your dream team! This is a fresh build for no reason other than the team has dissipated over the years due to a lack of leadership. This is your opportunity to do what you love, within a brand that clients love! Build the team to be a standalone function to match yours & the consultancy's vision & strategy. Charge out will be circa 60% which will diminish as the team grows. You will have resources, clients, projects and sit in a wider Enviro team of around 15. As an Ecologist, you're expected to do the technical elements of Ecology (Flora/Fauna Management Plans, Vegetation Mapping, Ecological Impact Assessments, Offsets etc), but this role suits a more operationally minded individual who enjoys the business side of Ecological consulting. Despite a strong track record of Ecology spanning 20 years in Qld, they are not known in the market for delivering this type of work, make a name for the firm & yourself. For the right person, this will be a very fun adventure and a certain resume builder! 15+ years experience required.
