Details of the offer

Are you passionate about Queensland's iconic protected areas and eager to play a key role in their conservation through the largest investment in fire management in these world-renowned locations?
The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) is looking for industry leaders and trailblazers to help shape the future of fire management across Queensland's more than 13 million hectares of parks and forests.
Several unique opportunities are available within our State teams (Fire Services and Asset Services) as part of the newly established Better Queensland Parks - Fire Management Uplift Program.
We are looking for highly motivated people with expertise in fire operations, planning, policy, training, fleet management and other critical supporting roles to deliver this exciting program.
This role is within Ecological Services and is responsible for supervising and coordinating projects that support the delivery of QPWS' Better Queensland Parks - Fire Management Uplift Program and statewide fire management program, as well as providing expert technical and professional advice based on best ecological practices.
Responsibilities include incorporating the latest technical research, science and knowledge into QPWS' fire-management program and project managing fire ecology-related projects. The role also involves representing QPWS in various internal (i.e. Fire Referral, Program and Technical Groups) and external forums, including interagency bushfire response coordination arrangements.
A key aspect of this role is collaborating with fire practitioners and the scientific community and will likely include state and national forums. It also involves developing and reviewing content for media releases and representing QPWS in public forums and the media.
This position requires the ability to lead and work as part of a team on individual and team-based projects in office and field environments, including remote areas.
Applications to remain current for 12 months.
