Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania Primary Industries and Water Biosecurity Tasmania Applications must be submitted by Sunday 12 May, 2024 11:55 PM Sunday 12 May, 2024 11:55 PM AEST Award/Classification: Tasmanian State Service Award - General Stream Band 6 $105,921.00 to $119,801.00 pro rata, per annum Employment type: Permanent, flexible, Permanent, full-time Region: North West Location: Lead a multi-disciplinary team of officers to ensure program plans and responses are successfully implemented to identify, prevent and respond to biosecurity risks and to maintain high standards of animal welfare and product integrity in Tasmania. Establish and maintain contemporary, efficient and high-quality systems and processes related to biosecurity operations to protect Tasmania's primary production industries, environment and way of life. The occupant of this position will be required to be an authorised officer under the Biosecurity Act 2019. Duties Lead a multi-disciplinary team of officers to ensure program plans and responses are successfully implemented to identify, prevent and respond to biosecurity risks and to maintain high standards of animal welfare and product integrity in Tasmania. Establish and maintain contemporary, efficient and high-quality systems and processes related to biosecurity operations to protect Tasmania's primary production industries, environment and way of life. The occupant of this position will be required to be an authorised officer under the Biosecurity Act 2019. The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this position is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted: 1. Satisfactory security clearance as required by port authorities. 2. Conviction check in the following conviction areas: Crimes of violence Sex related offences Serious drug offences Crimes involving dishonesty Serious traffic offences Any other offences under the Biosecurity Act 2019 , or related legislation A Degree, Advanced Diploma, or equivalent level, in a field relating to biosecurity, agriculture, science or public sector administration as relevant to the nature of the work to be undertaken, as provided by either a university, a vocational education organisation or a registered and accredited training provider. Certificate IV in Government (Investigations), or equivalent Authorisation under relevant legislation, or capacity to become authorised Current unrestricted full or provisional motor vehicle driver's licence.
