The Principal Advisor (Strategy) supports the Manager and Director in delivering on a wide range of policy initiatives, providing strategic advice across Government and the development and implementation of the Communities 2032 Strategy and associated action plans.

As Principal Advisor, you will assist the department to achieve its vision through a performance driven and customer focused culture that delivers results, whilst displaying the core public sector values of customers first; ideas into action; unleash potential; be courageous; and empower people.

Key responsibilities of this role:
• Identify, translate, and analyse information from a wide range of sources to provide high level authoritative, evidence-based advice
• Actively participate in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with stakeholders within and across government and the broader human services networks.
• Ensure that engagement, strategy, investment, coordination, and funding efforts are developed to achieve alignment to the Communities 2032 Strategy and the department's program outcomes.
• Prepare a range of written materials that support advice to government, including correspondence, briefing material, and information papers concerned with the initiatives delivered by the work area.
• Contribute to a professional environment through personal commitment to ethical behaviour, staff wellbeing, skills development, professional growth, and continuous improvement.
As a senior member of the team, undertake tasks allocated by the Manager and/or Director in a constantly changing work environment to support innovation and efficient delivery.
Specific to Strategy:
• Lead and provide high-level guidance to the team in undertaking analysis of solutions, impacts and risks related to development, implementation, and review of strategic objectives, notably the Communities 2032 Strategy and associated action plans.
• This will involve use of strategic policy acumen, and a range of contemporary data sources, and understanding of intergovernmental relations, project management and evaluation methodologies.
