Geraldton Grammar School is a friendly, co-educational Anglican school comprising of students from Kindergarten to Year 12, offering high quality education for all students. Set in the picturesque Midwest city of Geraldton, the school is set on nearly 18 hectares and boasts a serene, natural campus with spectacular gardens and ocean views. With more than 700 students, the school is small enough for students to be known as individuals, yet large enough to offer subject choices and opportunities. We are seeking two dynamic and passionate Primary Teachers (P-6) who will inspire our students through creative classroom practice, have refined professional knowledge and a commitment to high quality teaching.
Geraldton Grammar School Primary teachers are dedicated to giving beyond the classroom and providing the very best teaching, where differentiation for all abilities and continuous feedback are provided to students. Students who are all known, valued, and cared for and are taught to become independent learners who exhibit tolerance and respect. Our School motto, 'Striving for Excellence', is demonstrated in all we do.
The position requires applicants to have the ability to develop inclusive learning environments, foster positive relationships and have strong communication skills. The Early Learning Years adopt the Walker Learning Approach, combining play- and project-based holistic pedagogy with evidence-based programs. MultiLit and Talk 4 Writing programs are currently being implemented. Teachers work closely together as a professional learning community, under the guidance and support of the Lead Teachers (Early Learning and Upper Primary) and Head of Primary.
It is expected that the successful applicants will attend camps, staff meetings, curriculum evenings and parent/teacher interviews.
This is a permanent position starting in January 2025.
Relocation assistance will be offered to the suitable candidate.
Selection Criteria Sound understanding of current, evidence-based teaching, learning and assessment. A growth mindset, team focus, strong interpersonal skills and be a lifelong learner. Focused on continuous reflection, feedback, and improvement for students and self. Understanding of inclusivity, student learning needs and differentiation. Willingness to contribute to the broader life of the school community. A commitment to pastoral care and meeting the social and emotional wellbeing needs of students. An exemplary record of professionalism including maintaining appropriate confidentiality. An understanding of Walker Learning pedagogy is desirable but not essential. Knowledge of explicit teaching, the Science of Reading and MultiLit/Talk 4 Writing programs is desirable but not essential. Essential Hold and maintain a Working with Children Check and TRBWA registration.
