Role Learning Specialists will be highly skilled classroom practitioners who continue to spend the majority of their time in the classroom delivering high-quality teaching and learning and have a range of responsibilities related to their expertise, including teaching demonstration lessons, observing and providing feedback to other teachers and facilitating school-based professional learning.
Learning Specialists are expected to have deep knowledge and expertise in high quality teaching and learning in delivering improved achievement, engagement and wellbeing for students.
The role of the Learning Specialist will be to model excellence in teaching and learning through demonstration lessons and mentoring and coaching teachers in improving the skill, knowledge and effectiveness of the teaching workforce.
Responsibilities Model and mentor teachers (mini coaching cycles) Coaching staff across the school, specifically in the area of English Teach demonstration lessons in the area of English Drive English Teaching & Learning across the school Lead the English Priority Team Support the monitoring of the Teaching & Learning guidelines and Instructional Model being documented and embedded in practice Support and co-lead the implementation of whole school initiatives Lead the collection, analysis and application of wellbeing/curriculum data.
Support staff in completing ABLES assessments and implementing adjustments Organise and distribute English resources Undertake operational tasks relevant to Teaching, Learning, Wellbeing & Inclusion duties within role Whole school promotion and event management related to specific areas being led Support with student management Any other duties as directed by the Principal

Location Profile Westgrove Primary School was established in 1995 and is located within the City of Wyndham on the land of the Bunurong People.
In 2024, we have approximately 500 students enrolled who are spread across 24 classes.
We have either three or four classes at every year level from Prep to Grade 6.
We have a diverse student population, with 42% being from disadvantaged backgrounds, 38% are EAL, 3% Aboriginal and a number of students in Out of Home Care.
