Tier 1 constructor 10 year full cycle program - Design, Construction, Maintenance Major Sydney Water infrastructure projects in the western suburbs Location - Sydney Western Suburbs The Opportunity We are seeking to engage an experienced Pre-Operations Commissioning Engineer (Mech/Process or Elec) to join our 10-strong commissioning team for a long-term program of works across western Sydney Water infrastructure.
The West Region Delivery Team delivers water infrastructure projects on behalf of Sydney Water.
The projects are generally delivered in two stages.
In Pre-Operations, the West Region Delivery Team undertakes site investigations, develops the design, develops the scope of work, develops plans and methodologies for project delivery, and develops a detailed estimate for the delivery of Stage Two.
Stage Two includes the completion of the design, construction, commissioning, and handover of assets to Sydney Water.
The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background with experience in commissioning processes, cost estimation, planning, and an understanding of Sydney Water's operational standards.
You'll be Responsible for; The Commissioning Engineer in this role will be responsible for developing commissioning plans in Pre-Operations and creating cost estimates for the delivery of commissioning activities in Stage Two.
These are based on the project scope of work documentation provided by Sydney Water.
This role will involve leveraging benchmark templates and industry best practices to ensure accurate and efficient estimation of commissioning costs for the West Region Delivery Team.
This delivery-focused role is responsible for planning, executing, and finalising the commissioning phase of projects.

What you'll bring to the table; The ideal candidate will: Tertiary qualification in Engineering or equivalent 3+ years of experience in commissioning, cost estimation, or related roles, essentially within the water infrastructure sector.
Previous experience working with Sydney Water or similar utility organisations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools.
Strong understanding of water treatment processes, pumping stations, and distribution systems.
Familiarity with Sydney Water standards and relevant Australian regulations is a plus.
Excellent analytical, communication, and organisational skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in cost estimation.
Effective influencing and coordination skills.
Customer focus and effective interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated analytical skills.
Ability to lead change.
Ability to problem solve.
