We are a friendly, patient-focused, dispensing practice with 7750 patients. We are looking for a Practice Nurse to join our team.
We are looking for someone who would be happy to work as part of a multidisciplinary team which includes GPs, nurses, HCAs, phlebotomists, dispensers, medical receptionists, pharmacists & social prescribers.
The role: Ideally, you will have experience of practice nursing and be confident in delivering child immunisations, cervical cytology, wound care, chronic disease management, travel immunisations & ECGs. This list is not exhaustive.
This is a part-time position of 24 hours per week worked over 3 days, Monday, Tuesday & Friday. We would be happy to offer more hours if required. A competitive salary, based upon experience, will be offered.

Main duties of the job Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care. Such tasks will include:
Child and baby immunisations Adult immunisations including Shingles, Pneumonia, Flu, Diphtheria, Tetanus, Polio, Pertussis, etc. Travel vaccinations including Yellow Fever (Training will be given) Asthma & COPD monitoring (Training will be given) Diabetic monitoring Cervical smears Wound care (primary & secondary) and dressings including compression bandaging Suture removal Assisting G.P with insertion of Zoladex implants Assisting during insertion of IUD and contraceptive implants Changing of male, female and supra-pubic urinary catheters, including catheter flushing ECGs Requesting basic pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs All tasks to be entered through an appropriate Template.
Other tasks will include: Keep room clean, clutter-free and tidy Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required Undertake housekeeping duties including general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms Ordering of Health Promotion Literature Ordering of stock from the local Hospital Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels Participation in administrative systems in the practice Maintain accurate records at all times Advise colleagues of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks Attend and participate in any practice meetings when required On occasion, there may be a requirement to undertake home visits Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post Special Requirements of the Post: An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality Ability to use own judgment, resourcefulness and common sense A commitment to maintain a high professional standard of nursing care and keep up to date with all aspects of nursing care relevant to the post A commitment to ensure all Health and Safety requirements and Infection Control measures are met and to report any problems to the practice manager A commitment to the effective use of practice and NHS resources An awareness of own limitations and experience To work only in accordance with the UKCC Code of Conduct and within the Scope of Professional Practice To have a written professional development plan and to maintain an up-to-date portfolio which meets the requirements of registration with the UKCC Cooperate with appraisal meetings Membership of the RCN Person Specification Essential: To be a registered nurse with a UKCC personal identification number To be competent in basic nursing duties required for the post Able to demonstrate enthusiasm for developing nursing skills Able to work at the desired times Good communication skills with both patients and colleagues Able to work as a team player Ability to self-motivate, organise and prioritise own workload A demonstrable commitment to professional development Desirable: To be comfortable using IT equipment - we use 'EMIS' for all patient records Additional specific nursing skills/qualifications Experience Experience of working in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct Experience of Microsoft Office software Experience of dealing with the public/patients Experience of multi-skilled approach to Chronic Disease Management Experience of working in a complex organisation Experience of diagnosis and treatment of minor illnesses Evidence of involvement in Research and Development Knowledge and Skills Effective communication and interpersonal skills Knowledge and understanding of current national developments and trends in health care, quality assurance and practice development Assess and develop risk management protocols Implement strategies for quality assurance and quality audit Evidence of innovative practice Experience of working with new technologies in health care practice Understanding of clinical coding in general and Read coding in particular Understanding of the health needs assessment process Experience of TPP Systym One clinical system Qualities and Attributes An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality Ability to use own judgment, resourcefulness and common sense Ability to work without direct supervision and determine own workload priorities Ability to work as part of an integrated multi-skilled team Pleasant and articulate Able to work under pressure Able to work in a changing environment Able to use own initiative Other Flexibility of working hours/able to work at the desired times Experience of Primary Care Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
