About the role In the Practice Advisor role you will be responsible for supporting service delivery through developing and coordinating positive behaviour support responses, safety plans and risk assessments for children and young people in non-family-based care. The Practice Advisor will liaise and consult with First Nations staff, agencies, and relevant community organisations to assist with the development of cultural plans for First Nations children and young people to ensure they are connected to culture and community. Permanent full-time Role can be based from a choice of IFYS office locations in Cairns, Townsville, Rockhampton, Sunshine Coast, Caboolture, or Ipswich Salary base of $102,546 per annum + superannuation Excellent not-for-profit salary packaging options (package up to $15,900 per FBT year) Respectful, supportive and inclusive work environment and leadership team Unique in-house training opportunities including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training, Preventing Child Sexual Exploitation and Sanctuary training Access to the Calm app + Flight Centre personal travel discounts Key responsibilities of this role include: Partner with IFYS programs to provide evidence based behavioural interventions and strategies to provide a consistent approach that supports the safety of clients and staff Design, review, and implement systems to monitor the application of all behavioural interventions and strategies Attend service stakeholder meetings as required Review critical incident reports and provide constructive feedback to services as required Undertake practice reviews as required including data analysis to identify trends across programs and/or clients Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of all IFYS Models of Practice Develop, monitor, and review individual safety plans and individual crisis management plans for children and young people and program safety plans as required Consult with First Nations staff, agencies, and relevant community organisations to assist with the development of cultural plans for First Nations children Develop and professional development and training packages for direct care staff Essential criteria to be successful in this role: Tertiary undergraduate degree or higher qualifications in Child Protection, Human Services, Social Work, Psychology or related discipline Demonstrated experience undertaking similar key responsibilities A comprehensive and up to date understanding of child protection legislation and practices, frameworks and tools used to identify and assess risk and safety An understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and values, and awareness of the current issues faced by Indigenous children, young people and their families Possess a high level of self-accountability when managing time and prioritisation of tasks Excellent communication skills, including the ability to produce written reports and deliver training to small groups Must hold or be willing to obtain if successful: Valid open driver's license with no restrictions, and own reliable transport QLD Working with Children Check (Paid Blue Card) Licensed Care Service Suitability Check (LCS2) Completion of the Hope and Healing modules National Criminal History Check (a new check will be conducted through IFYS systems) Application and assessment process When submitting your application, please include your current CV and a cover letter outlining your suitability for the role.
