About the role The Practice Advisor - Identified provides complex support to operational services and assists in the development and implementation of practice improvement initiatives, particularly in the context of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander practice.
You will advise, support and build the capacity of service to continuously improve service quality within the organisation, provide advice in the management of complex cases, work collaboratively with others to deliver a high-quality service, and help shape the culture and morale of the workforce within your area of responsibility, ensuring a culture consistent with the organisation's mission and values.
About you You will have a passion for working with children, youth and families, knowledge of and experience working with children and young people in statutory care who exhibit complex and multiple support needs, and the ability to work alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, children, young people, families and communities in an organisational context.
It is essential that the person who holds this position be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island person - A genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 that applicants are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.
You will have leadership skills with the capacity to deliver results, inspire and motivate teams, with well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to engage with a range of internal and external stakeholders, problem-solving, decision-making and negotiation skills, and the ability and willingness to support a culture of safety, legislative compliance and commitment to the mission, vision and values of Churches of Christ.
Qualifications Qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences, or other related discipline.
Comprehensive knowledge of the contemporary challenges of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Applied knowledge and understanding of child protection and out-of-home care frameworks, including knowledge of, or the ability to acquire knowledge of the Child Protection Act 1999.
A sound understanding of child development and trauma theory, to inform assessment and decision making.
Demonstrated understanding of the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012.
Pre-Requisites Current driver's licence and willingness to travel intrastate periodically, inclusive of rural and remote locations.
A current National Police Certificate – or the ability to acquire.
Working with Children (Blue Card) – or the ability to acquire.
A Child Safety and Personal History Screening Check (LCS) – or the ability to acquire - where the service and role provides care or support in a licensed care service.
