How will your ideas contribute to shaping what's next? As our Power Engineer for our clients' Renewable Energy and BESS projects in Western Australia (based in Perth), you'll play an integral part in a team of highly skilled specialists that 'bring ideas to life' for our clients. Situated in our Energy Practice you will work across a multi-disciplinary team of professionals across Australia on a wide variety of projects of our Energy & Industrial service group, getting exposure to the most exciting major projects in Western Australia and other challenging projects across Australia.
Your role will include: Applying a comprehensive understanding of transmission network connection requirements to client sites, interpreting and developing generator performance standards to meet network requirements. Working closely with and providing technical leadership to power engineering team members to ensure electrical HV/MV designs meet network requirements. Reviewing local connection options and liaising with network operators to understand constraints, network limitations and requirements. Applying a strong knowledge of renewable energy and battery storage technologies and the evolving network and market requirements in the WEM and SWIS to provide confident technical advice to clients. Working with wind energy analysts and battery experts to optimise client projects. Being responsive to client's needs and maintaining a reputation for quality and timely advice. Western Australia is at the forefront of the energy transition globally. We know today's complex challenges can only be solved through bringing together diverse teams of people from across our business.
What are we looking for from you? You'll have a genuine passion for re-imagining problems and continuous learning to help shape the future. We value that each of our team members brings something different to Aurecon. Reporting to our Energy Practice Leader for WA and the NT, we are looking for someone with experience in senior engineering roles with:
A bachelor degree qualification and experience in electrical and/or power systems engineering. Experience with high voltage power transmission and/or medium voltage distribution. Alternatively, you have rail electrification or mining fleet electrification experience. Experience in the Pilbara (NWIS) power systems and/or SWIS power systems is a plus, as is knowledge of power system requirements for stand-alone power systems and microgrids. Experience in power generation projects as a developer, owner or contractor is desirable for this role. Strong technical capability and report writing skills, and excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive and trusting relationships with clients (consulting experience is desirable). We look for people who have had a broad range of experiences throughout their career and those that actively seek out continuous learning. In this role you will get the chance to be part of industry-leading innovative projects in an increasingly challenging technical environment.
