Full time, 24-month fixed-term position Contribute to world-class research in health social sciences Base Salary Level A1-B2 $86,584 - $127,433 + 17% superannuation About the opportunity The School of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Sydney is a leading social science environment, focusing on five research themes: health, markets, governance, inequality and environment. In conjunction with the Charles Perkins Centre , the School of Social and Political Sciences is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. In this 24-month fixed-term role, you will work with Professor Warwick Anderson and Professor Sonja van Wichelen, conducting research focused on the social, political, and epistemic aspects of medical research and public health. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with a multidisciplinary research team, advancing knowledge in both science and technology studies and clinical research.
Your key responsibilities will be to: conduct independent and collaborative qualitative research on topics involving health, disease and clinical research develop a clear forward trajectory in research, including publication of peer-reviewed journal articles, conference/seminar papers and book chapters contribute to knowledge within the discipline, in line with the strategic research goals of the University develop and refine independent research skills while working closely with senior academic staff and multidisciplinary research teams contribute to fostering a supportive academic environment by mentoring students, attending faculty meetings and carrying out administrative tasks. Selection Criteria: a PhD in medical anthropology, science and technology studies (STS), sociology of health and illness, or related fields a strong research profile for career stage, demonstrated through authorship or advanced preparation of publications and/or research grant applications openness to interdisciplinary and collaborative research a commitment to collaborative social-science research in one or more of the research areas of the Charles Perkins Centre, including nutrition, obesity, chronic disease, metabolic health, and the human gut microbiome a research focus on Australasia, Southeast Asia, or the Pacific (preferred) experience working with Indigenous communities (preferred).
