$105,314 - $116,679

to develop a prevention-focused research and dissemination program.
Within this role, you will work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to expand our work in designing, implementing, and evaluating culturally inclusive school-based drug prevention resources.
You will actively consult with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and support local Aboriginal facilitators in implementing the wellbeing program and research.Your key responsibilities will be to: Co-ordinate consultations with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth, communities and stakeholders to inform the development of a new module of the Strong and Deadly Futures program that focuses on preventing harm from e-cigarette use (vaping).
Liaise and work collaboratively with stakeholders and our Indigenous Creative Design partner agencies to co-design the web-based program and companion teaching resources.
Manage a pilot trial to evaluate the Strong and Deadly Futures program, including the recruitment of schools, data collection and management, and intervention delivery.
Develop a program of prevention-focused research and dissemination, including preparing funding applications, conducting data analysis, and preparing publications for peer-reviewed journals and conference presentations.

As such, we see the importance of recruiting talent aligned to these values and are looking for a Research Fellow who can demonstrate the following key skills, qualifications, and attributes: PhD in psychology, behavioural or social sciences, public health, or a related field.
Experience in health promotion, community consultation or research with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Knowledge of and sensitivity to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and ethical considerations.
Experience conducting research in the fields of mental health and/or substance use prevention or treatment.
Specific experience in the drug and alcohol field would be well regarded.
Proven previous experience in management, statistical analysis, and reporting of research data (quantitative and qualitative) as evidenced by authorship of journal articles and/or government reports.
Previous experience managing school-based or clinical trials would be well regarded.
Demonstrated proficiency carrying out literature reviews within academic databases.
Ability to travel within or interstate (reimbursement available).
The successful incumbent will also have excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills and a proven ability to liaise with key stakeholders.Sponsorship / work rights for Australia Please note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
