This pay rate is inclusive of mandatory 25% casual loading.
Initial contract until 30/06/2025 with possible extension paying approx. $135/hr.Brisbane CBD Location with flexibility to WFH 2 days per week.Our client, Department of Education (DoE), is currently seeking a Portfolio Governance Lead to join their Better Portfolio and Contract Management Project (BPCM).
The BPCM Project has been established to uplift the Division's portfolio and contract management capabilities. This business transformation project is being undertaken by an internal project team (that includes this role), partnered with embedded resources from a top-tier consulting firm.
This role is needed to bring portfolio management and governance expertise to the internal project team and Division. The successful candidate will collaborate with stakeholders across the Division to analyze current portfolio management practices, identify mechanisms to uplift capability, contribute to the uplift of portfolio, program, and project management maturity, and the supporting tools, templates, and artifacts.
The Portfolio Governance Specialist will work with stakeholders to educate, foster, and embed better portfolio management processes with senior leaders and staff within the Division.

Contribute subject matter expertise, undertake improvement actions, and support organizational changes related to the business transformation project aimed at substantially uplifting the maturity of portfolio, program, and project management practices across the Division.Identify and analyze portfolio management and administration practices, identifying workable solutions and areas for improvement across process, technology, capacity, and capability.Develop, maintain, and govern the application of portfolio, program, and project management methodologies, standards and guidelines, gateway processes, tools, and templates.Drive continuous improvement activities to further uplift portfolio governance.Contribute to the development of a range of key activities for the Division including performance reporting for the infrastructure portfolio.Provide training, guidance, and mentoring regarding portfolio management practices and administration.Develop and maintain effective relationships with key clients, contacts, and organizations within the department, regions, and other government agencies.In collaboration with key stakeholders across the division, contribute to the development of a business case for the procurement and implementation of enhanced portfolio/program/project management technology (ICT) solution/s.Actively participate as a project team member and coordinate project team work, including maintaining and reporting of project milestones.Manage the preparation and presentation of accurate and comprehensive briefings and reports to support senior and executive management within the department.Qualifications and experience required: Mandatory: Experience in portfolio/program/project management and governance.Involvement in business improvement and/or change management initiatives.Desirable: Formal qualifications in business-related disciplines (Business, Commerce, Information Systems).Experience in educational built infrastructure in complex organizations and/or the public sector.Key skills and experience required: Demonstrated infrastructure background and experience in portfolio management who can provide recommendations to assess and uplift capacity and capability.A hands-on person who can work across the board from front-line staff to executives.Excellent communication skills and attention to detail, ensuring timely and successful project outcomes.Proven ability to drive practical change and results.Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.Able to manage through influence.A good problem solver who can get to the bottom of problems and design practical solutions.Presentation skills with the ability to write and speak clearly to easily communicate complex ideas in a way that is easy to understand.To submit your application, in strict confidence, please submit your resume in Word Format using the appropriate link quoting reference No. 241875.
