Spirit of Tasmania operates twin ships sailing across Bass Strait carrying up to 1,400 passengers and 500 vehicles each night and on selected day sailings during peak season. With over 650 people employed across a variety of roles on board the ships and 'on shore', we are focused on delivering exceptional and unparalleled passenger and freight services across Bass Strait.As Port Operations Manager, you will provide strong leadership to facilitate the professional coordination of all in-port services including customer service check-in, stevedoring, and security to ensure all Company and legislative requirements are met for our Devonport shore-based operations.You will lead a dedicated team to ensure a seamless in-port operation, minimizing as far as practicable any disruption or risk while complying with all prevailing safety legislation and adhering to best practice safe systems of work.Your key responsibilities include:Provide effective people leadership to ensure a workplace environment that attracts and retains staff and brings the best out of people.Effectively manage the operational budget and maximise revenue generation through stringent control of operational activity.Champion a safety culture based on involvement at all levels to drive safety performance.To be successful in this role you have:Strong people leadership skills gained within a ports or logistics environment.High level communication skills with the ability to engage effectively and build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Working knowledge and understanding of relevant security legislation, civil law, and Workplace Health and Safety Regulations.It is desirable you have a formal qualification in business, logistics, or a related discipline.
