About the Role The Policy Officer - Planning will work as part of a high performing team to deliver key government priorities to reform the building system and deliver safe and quality buildings for Victorians with a focus on the interface between the Planning and Building regulatory framework. Working in a dynamic environment, they will contribute to projects designed to improve building outcomes for the industry, practitioners and consumers.
This includes supporting the development of policy options, assisting with drafting of regulatory changes, preparing briefings and correspondence for Ministers and executives, and working across a wide range of government, industry and consumer stakeholders to achieve effective building policy and regulatory outcomes.
Key Selection Criteria To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will excel in stakeholder management by adding value, fostering connections, monitoring satisfaction, and addressing issues constructively. They will demonstrate strong policy design and development skills, including interpreting policies, drafting informed business cases, conducting research, and critically analysing data. Additionally, they will apply critical thinking and problem-solving effectively, while communicating with clarity and impact through well-structured presentations tailored to their audience.
On a personal level, the ideal candidate will demonstrate flexibility and adaptability by quickly responding to changes, embracing shifting priorities, and collaborating effectively with external teams. They will foster a supportive and cooperative team environment, share information to address issues, and provide assistance in challenging situations.
