About the Role The role is fixed term fulltime until 30 June 2027.
The Policy Officer will work as part of a high performing team to contribute to the delivery of key government reforms to Victoria's building and plumbing systems. Working in a dynamic environment, the role will contribute to several projects designed to improve building outcomes for the industry, practitioners, and consumers. This includes supporting the development of policy options, assisting with drafting of regulatory changes, preparing briefings and correspondence for Ministers and executives, and working across a wide range of government, industry, and consumer stakeholders to achieve effective building policy and regulatory outcomes.
Key Responsibilities Provide efficient and timely project and administrative support including drafting project plans, coordinating tasks, information management, financial management, procurement and contract management.
Under direction, assist in the maintenance of the project schedule and work breakdown structure in consultation with the project team.
Provide accurate advice and support in relation to procurement processes and requirements, consistent with policy and procedures, including raising purchase orders and related documentation.
Provide high level administrative and executive support to the branch including customer service, information management, correspondence, events, financial management and procurement.
Support stakeholder engagement activities including scheduling and coordinating meetings and workshops, preparing agendas and minutes, distribution of meeting papers and follow up of actions arising from meetings.
Key Selection Criteria KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
To be successful in the role, the candidate will be tasked to deliver and execute projects according to established plans and prioritize tasks based on urgency and impact when plans are not defined. You will use approved task management tools and maintain accurate project records. In problem-solving, you will seek resolution through established policies or processes and when necessary seek guidance by providing relevant information and ideas. You must be proficient with digital and technological tools, including the Microsoft suite and are knowledgeable about broader digital trends such as IoT, RPA, machine learning and cybersecurity. Additionally, you must communicate effectively by preparing and delivering clear, concise and logical presentations using appropriate media to engage the audience and enhance their understanding of the topic.
Qualifications and Experience A tertiary qualification in law, public policy, economics or a related discipline is highly desirable.
