Meta is seeking a highly organised, motivated professional to join our Public Policy team based in our Sydney office. The person will combine a passion for technology's potential to create social good and to connect the community in a safe and responsible manner, alongside knowledge of the political and regulatory dynamics in Australia. In this role, you will lead on delivering initiatives and partnerships as part of our work to build economic value and social good through Meta's services in Australia. You will also be responsible for understanding Facebook's policies and business priorities, being able to communicate those to policymakers, NGOs, academics, civil society and other stakeholders – with the goal of furthering the company's mission. The successful applicant will become part of a team that is dealing with some of the most interesting public policy challenges of our times including safety, privacy, freedom of expression and growth of the digital economy. This position will be based in Sydney and report to the Head of Public Policy for Australia.
Policy Manager, Australia ResponsibilitiesLead a portfolio of programs and partnerships across Australia, for example in areas of economic impact, community education or online safety.Manage policy programs from start to finish, including design, implementation, reporting, evaluation and other operational requirements.Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support program planning, strategy and delivery.Work with policymakers, non-governmental organisations and private sector organisations on issues of safety, security, content policy and other technology-relevant public policy concerns.Represent Meta in meetings and public events with policymakers and stakeholders.Assist in the development and management of Facebook's policies on particular issues or product areas.Respond to questions and consultations from external stakeholders on relevant policy issues.Work with cross functional teams across product, legal, marketing and communications across the company to ensure that Meta products and programs are advancing external understanding around key policy issues.Minimum Qualifications8+ years of experience in related areas of project management including within government or relating to social good, e.g. in community education, economic impact, climate resilience or corporate social responsibility.Sound understanding of political systems and relevant policy and civil society institutions as well local understanding of the context in Australia and the wider region.Excellent judgment, with strong communication skills.Ability to drive and manage multiple projects simultaneously.Ability to think, plan and execute resourcefully and creatively in a dynamic environment.Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to build successful relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
