A Policy Lead opportunity has become available, which will see you developing and advocating on energy policy shaping our society's transition to clean energy, and that is underpinned by AusNet's unique role as Victoria's network operator for transmission, distribution and gas. This full-time permanent role is suitable for someone with demonstrated experience in energy policy who is ready to join a growing team leading AusNet's engagements with significant State and Federal reforms that impact our transmission business, customers and communities. In doing so, you will be working closely with, and supported by, a network of planning, engineering and operations teams. With a hybrid split (Office/WFH), this role is based in Southbank and is part of the Regulation & Policy team. This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:Agreeing policy positions and strategies on priority reforms, including business engagements to identify developments, opportunities and risks; robust policy analysis to assess criticality and strategic impact; and presentation of high-quality policy advice to internal leaders.Engaging actively and meaningfully on policy or regulatory issues with governments, regulators or industry to positively influence decisions made or positions settled. This includes translating and simplifying AusNet's business or engineering issues into actionable policy proposals for decision-makers.Collaborating and coordinating with internal AusNet stakeholders that engage with the range of stakeholders impactful to our policy positions.Developing positive relationships with internal leaders and specialists – building their support for, and understanding of, AusNet's position and advocacy approach.Developing and sharing policy insights over complex energy and industry issues from industry, research, AusNet trials and projects. You don't need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:Significant demonstrated experience working in policy development, and familiarity with policy or regulatory setting process – whether with industry, government or regulatory body.Experience in and strong understanding of energy markets, policy and regulation, preferably in regulated or commercial transmission sector, however, experience in electricity and gas distribution also valued.Tertiary qualifications within a related discipline.Outstanding written and strong verbal communication skills to influence mutually beneficial outcomes.Strong interpersonal skills that enable communication and collaboration with internal and external parties.Confidently operate independently and bring your own ability to organise and lead working-level teams on policy.Demonstrated ability to hold or develop 'trusted' relationships with senior stakeholders.
