About the team:
Located in the Planning and Regulation Department, the City Inspectorate Branch is responsible for enforcement of the City's standards and local laws, across building community, public safety and environmental health compliance to protect the safety and amenity for the City's residents and visitors. The Development Compliance Business unit is responsible for ensuring that any building works across the City are compliant with relevant legislation and approvals.
About your new role:
You will provide an efficient inspectorial, investigative, and advisory services in relation to on-site sewerage facility installations, ensuring adherence to the QLD Plumbing and Drainage Act 2018, QLD Plumbing and Wastewater Code and AS3500. You will protect the community from potentially harmful, illegal and/or substandard installations.
Key responsibilities include:

You will audit all types of on-site sewerage facilities (OSSF) including on private properties and some Council facilities.
Physically auditing the operations of any facility to confirm compliance, including taking samples and measurements internal of the plant.
Investigate complaints where a comprehensive report will be required to explain breaches/non-compliant issues.
Gather evidence and compile a report that identifies all non-compliant issues.

We're looking for people who have:

You will hold a current QBCC Drainers licence with an on-site sewerage facility endorsement to service treatment plants.
You will have extensive experience in on-site sewerage facilities including design, legislation (Plumbing and Drainage Act 2018 & QLD Plumbing and Waste Water Code), operations, physically auditing the operations of any facility to confirm compliance, including taking samples and measurements internal of the plant.
You will have the experience to investigate complaints, gather evidence and compile a report that identifies all non-compliant issues that may be present and how to rectify these issues to gain compliance.
Proven interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, particularly in the writing of technical reports.
You will have excellent customer service, the confidence and knowledge to educate customers in the efficient operations of an OSSF both face to face and on the phone.
