About The Role The Purpose of this position is to ensure safe, efficient and environmentally sustainable operation of the Cloncurry Landfill in accordance with site-based management plans, site approvals and legislative requirements.
The Operator / Labourer (Landfill) provides community education, environmental protection, and vector control services specific to landfill sites assuring a high standard of environmental quality and compliance is maintained.
This role is responsible for the maintenance of Council's site and is predominantly a plant operator role.
Key Responsibilities Operating plant and equipment in a safe and competent manner Maintenance and compliance of landfill management plan Construction and maintenance of the site including cells, internal roads, firebreaks, bund walls, drains and leachate ponds Ensuring daily pre-operational checks and prescribed plant/machinery maintenance are carried out and all faults or defects are reported Performing and documenting minor equipment servicing, referring more complicated mechanical issues to the Workshop Supervisor Maximizing the efficiency of plant and machinery Pushing, compacting and covering of waste to limit wind blow litter, safety hazards and vector control Monitoring and maintenance of segregated waste and storage areas Controlling and directing public and any contractors operating on site Ensuring all waste entering site meets waste acceptance criteria and is deposited in appropriate cells Contributing to the development of site procedures and documentation such as site procedures and Safe Work Method Statements Qualifications Mandatory: Possess a current Open Manual C Class Australian Drivers Licence Work Safely in the Construction Industry (White Card) Desirable: HC/HR/MR class Licence ACDC Chemical Accreditation (or ability to obtain) Front End Loader Licence/ticket Applications Close Friday 5 January 2024 at 12:00pm.
