ABOUT THIS ROLE As a JJ's Plant Operator, you will work at either the Caloundra or Nambour Landfill Facilities on the Sunshine Coast. On a day-to-day basis, this role will require the operation and maintenance of heavy machinery, labouring and driving a variety of vehicles. You will be working with a safe and reliable fleet. We are an essential services industry, offering stability to employees and reliability to our customers. You will enjoy family friendly hours – 4 days on, 4 days off - rotating roster.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Operate a variety of plant machinery including: skid steers, dozers, dump trucks, and front-end loaders. Site labouring duties. Oversee waste disposal activities to ensure smooth operations and compliance with environmental regulations. Conduct regular site inspections to monitor conditions and address any potential risk. Maintain and perform accurate waste disposal methods. Generate requirements for daily, weekly, and monthly reports on landfill operations, including environmental responsibilities. Contribute to the implementation of waste management and recycling programs. Ensure the safety of all personnel and visitors on the site. Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment. Be available to work overtime and weekends - 4 days on, 4 days off rotating roster. ABOUT YOU Experience and tickets for operating mobile plant equipment (skid steers, compactors, dozers, front-end loaders). HR Licence. Experience & tickets in mobile plant operation across a variety of machines. Previous experience in landfill operations or a related field (preferred). Proficiency in data entry and report generation. Knowledge of environmental regulations and safety procedures. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Proven safety record and adherence to safety practices. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
