About You: Are you a skilled and dedicated professional with a passion for planning?  Do you have excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills?  Can you manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment?  Do you have a high level of integrity and are you well equipped with great people skills to drive cultural improvement?  Are you a team player that aims to deliver great work on time?  About your new Role: As the Planning Officer, you will be responsible for assessing and processing planning applications, providing expert advice and guidance to stakeholders, and ensuring that development proposals comply with relevant legislation, policies, and regulations. 
You will: 
Contribute to the initiation and facilitation of new projects and provide professional advice on planning matters affecting the Edward River community. Assess and determine Development Applications and Complying Development Applications Liaise with individual landowners and/or developers to ensure that developments and subdivision proposals comply with Council's objectives. Manage the preparation of planning policies, planning proposals and strategic planning projects. Do You Have These Key Attributes? Significant experience in planning and dealing with a range of customers including developers, consultants and members of the public.  The ability to collaborate with staff, state agencies and the development industry to deliver positive community, economic and environmental outcomes for those who already call Edward River home as well as those who will choose Edward River area as their desired place to live, work and play. The opportunity to develop your skills in a large, contemporary setting and progress in your planning career.  The chance to strengthen an essential area of Council that benefits the entire community.  Full-time permanent role with a flexible 70-hour fortnight inclusive of flexible working arrangements including hybrid.  Competitive salary in the range of $91,743 to $114,575 plus 11% super.  Supportive work environment that values Leadership, Excellence, Accountability and Delivery.  Opportunities for professional development, ongoing training and career progression.  A chance to contribute positively to the Edward River community.  Essential Qualifications and Experience: Tertiary Qualification in Town Planning or Urban & Regional Planning, or equivalent experience in a comparable role combined with ongoing professional development. Contemporary knowledge of Planning and Environment legislation and other relevant acts, regulations and statutes applicable in NSW. Contemporary experience in applying land use concepts and in dealing with statutory processes and planning principles including social, economic and environmental matters. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to prepare accurate and timely documentation such as reports, presentations and procedures. Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office, and a willingness to learn new systems. Demonstrated ability to undertake duties in a manner consistent with a culture of customer service excellence and Council's values – Leadership, Excellence, Accountability and Delivery. Current Drivers Licence.  Experience in Local Government. Experience in Geographical Information Systems (GIS). Knowledge of Technology One software.  Why work at Edward River Council?
