The Planning Institute of Australia (PIA) is the national leader of the planning profession and strives to be Australia's trusted voice on planning. The Victorian Office of PIA is seeking an energetic and highly motivated person to join our small team. This role is full-time, based in Melbourne with some flexibility to work from home.
Our mighty team delivers a professional development program, regular information briefings, an Awards Program and annual State Conferences in Vic & Tas and we support our special interest groups such as the Women's Planning Network, the Young Planners Committee and the International Planners Network.
You will be someone passionate about delivering events with a broad toolkit of marketing and content skills, as you will have a key role in shaping our messaging and creating compelling and engaging content.
Position overview PIA is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Marketing & Events Officer to help promote our events and programs in VIC and TAS. What you'll be doing Marketing Collaborating with the Events Manager to design and deliver a marketing plan to promote events. Assisting in the development and execution of marketing strategies and campaigns for events. Creating, coordinating and shaping content for PIA's direct marketing communications to members – a monthly e-newsletter, bi-monthly Planning News publication, and regular members' communications. Contributing to the creation of marketing collateral, such as brochures and presentations. Collaborating across the organisation to achieve consistent messaging and brand representation. Content creation Creating, editing and proofreading content to maintain high standards and consistent messaging. Developing creative visual elements, such as images and videos, to enhance content effectiveness. Collaborating with subject matter experts and members to ensure accuracy and relevance of content. Assisting the State Manager in the coordination of the publishing of the bi-monthly PIA Magazine, creating promotional material, proofreading and editing as necessary / management of mail out lists. Events / PIA Programs Assisting the Events Manager in planning and delivering events.
Running online and in-person events as part of PIA's Program including working with presenters and venues to coordinate events end-to-end. Reporting on attendance, managing event registrations, and providing general customer service. Social media management Coordinating social media accounts and developing content calendars. Working with VIC and TAS networks to maximise our social media impact. Creating engaging social media posts to promote PIA VIC and TAS events, initiatives, and advocacy priorities (platforms: LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok). Website management / General Administrative Tasks Updating and maintaining webpages with accurate and engaging content. Optimizing website content for user experience. Managing shared inbox and phone lines. Responding to members' queries on email and over the phone as well as managing databases. Ideally, you'll have most of the following:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field. Proven experience in content creation, preferably in an entry marketing or communications role. Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt content for different platforms and audiences. Proficiency in social media management. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders. Ability to work autonomously and to show initiative as well as the ability to collaborate efficiently. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Experience with various editing programs such as Canva, video editors for social media.
