This is an opportunity to contribute to the provision of strategic and portfolio planning for the Bank's Payments Settlements (PS) Department. PS is responsible for operating the Reserve Bank Information and Transfer System (RITS), which is Australia's high-value settlement system, and is used by banks and other approved institutions to settle their payment obligations on a real-time gross settlement (RTGS) basis. This system settles around $250b between financial institutions each day.
We are seeking a senior Planning and Performance Specialist to join our Portfolio Management Office (PMO). As part of this role you will be responsible for assessing portfolio performance and supporting the PMO's overall reporting and assurance functions. You will also work collaboratively with senior stakeholders to coordinate strategic planning and prioritisation exercises for the department and to produce quality output that facilitates strategic decision making.
Key Objectives Ensure effective governance of the departmental portfolio including monitoring, tracking and reporting on portfolio health and performance. Prepare and present progress/status reports to stakeholders.Plan, co-ordinate and lead strategic & workforce planning and project prioritisation exercises. Prepare written reports and presentations that summarise key outputs and facilitate strategic decision making and investment decisions.Assist with the oversight of the department's project management framework and methodology to ensure it's fit for purpose, balances governance against efficient delivery, and aligns with enterprise policies and objectives.Oversee project review processes, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and compliance with project management frameworks.Create and manage regular budget and risk management reporting for the portfolio.Identify and support continuous improvement across all aspects of portfolio planning and governance.
You will have experience working in a similar role with demonstrable skills for planning and prioritisation, continuous improvement, big room workshopping, working in a deadline-oriented environment and with a strong attention to detail, as well as experience and knowledge of portfolio and project management practices. Reporting to the Manager of the PMO, you will also enjoy working and collaborating with a high performing team committed to team goals and deliverables.
Your Background We are looking for someone with extensive experience (3+ years) providing effective portfolio governance and reporting functions. Experience working in high reliability industries (e.g. financial, communications, healthcare, airlines, manufacturing) is preferred.Strong understanding of Portfolio and Project Management Methodologies, frameworks, governance and quality assurance.Proven experience planning and co-ordinating project prioritisation and other planning exercises. Experience in Big Room Planning techniques would be advantageous.Advanced analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.Demonstrated ability to simplify complex ideas and communicate outcomes in both written and verbal form.Demonstrable ability to pitch and implement process improvements.Strong team player with the ability to work within a small collaborative team is essential.Experience utilising modern workforce planning tools and techniques would be extremely advantageous.
