Community Corrections Fixed-Term Employment Register Department of Justice Community Corrections Applications must be submitted by Thursday 18 June, 2026 11:55 PM AEST Award/Classification: Various Classifications Employment type: Fixed-term, casual, Fixed-term, full-time, Fixed-term, part-time Region: Statewide Location: Hobart, Launceston, Devonport or Burnie The fixed term employment register is designed to provide Community Corrections with a pool of suitable applicants to undertake the duties of Probation Officer or Case Work Support Officer on a fixed term basis.
Prior training, experience and qualifications are not required, but relevant tertiary or industry qualifications are desirable.
Flexible options will be considered regarding part-time hours.
Applications are invited from persons interested in being considered for fixed term employment for a period of up to 12 months.

Case Work Support Officer Salary range: $72,605 - $78,481 pro rata - General Stream Band 3 Case Work Support Officers assess offenders within the corrections system and provide comprehensive reports regarding their level of risk and suitability for community-based orders.
Probation Officer Salary range: $80,593 - $92,764 pro rata - General Stream Band 4 Probation Officers help protect the community by supervising offenders on community-based orders, addressing offending behaviours, providing opportunities for rehabilitation and ensuring offenders comply with court orders.
They work in close collaboration with the Courts, Parole Board, Tasmania Prison Service and Tasmania Police.
The Head of State Service has determined that the person nominated for this vacancy is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer.
The following checks are to be conducted: Pre-employment checks • Arson and fire setting • Violent crimes and crimes against the person • Sex-related offences • Drug and alcohol related offences • Crimes involving dishonesty • Crimes involving deception • Making false declarations • Malicious damage and destruction to property • Serious traffic offences • Crimes against public order or relating to the Administration of Law and Justice • Crimes against Executive or the Legislative Power • Crimes involving Conspiracy Disciplinary action in previous employment.
