Location ProfilePakenham Secondary College is a Year 7-12 College located within the Cardinia Shire on Melbourne's South East fringe. The school serves a large and diverse community within a designated urban growth corridor.

The school community has become increasingly diverse with students from a variety of ethnic and racial backgrounds. It is anticipated that student enrolment numbers will be approximately 910 in 2024. The curriculum across Years 7 and 8 is based around a core plus elective model. Students in Years 9 and 10 combine core subjects with elective choices in areas of interest. Year 10 students can access VET or VCE subjects. Senior students can access VCE (including the Vocational Major) and a variety of VET courses and School Based Apprenticeships. The school is committed to supporting students in achieving at least one qualification upon completing their Secondary Education.

Selection CriteriaSC1 Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills and experience in responding to student learning needs.
SC2 Demonstrated experience in planning and implementing high impact teaching strategies and evaluating the impact of learning and teaching programs on student learning growth.
SC3 Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assessing student learning and using data to inform teaching practice.
SC4 Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills and experience in establishing collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the broader school community.
SC5 Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values and experience in reflecting upon practice and engaging in professional learning.
RoleThe classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges: range 1 and range 2. The primary focus is on planning, preparation, and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes. Classroom teachers engage in critical reflection to improve knowledge and skills to effectively engage students and improve their learning.
Range 2 classroom teachers will be expected to:
Have the content knowledge and pedagogical practice to meet the diverse needs of all students.Model exemplary classroom practice and mentor other teachers.Provide expert advice about content, processes, and strategies for professional learning.Supervise and train student teachers.Assist staff to use student data to inform teaching approaches.Range 1 classroom teachers focus on developing skills to become effective practitioners with structured support and guidance.
ResponsibilitiesThe role of classroom teacher may include but is not limited to:
Direct teaching of groups and individual students;Contributing to the development and evaluation of a curriculum area or program;Undertaking other classroom teaching-related duties as determined by the School Principal;Participating in activities such as parent/teacher meetings and staff meetings;Undertaking other non-teaching supervisory duties.Who May ApplyTeachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.

VIT LANTITETo be eligible for employment, a person must have provisional or full registration from the Victorian Institute of Teaching and meet the literacy and numeracy test requirements.
