OPC is seeking to recruit a Petroleum Engineer to work with a team of specialists in our Perth office. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will assist with the location of natural reservoirs of petroleum deposits and develop the most cost-effective and efficient methods of recovery, extraction and production of oil and gas from underground reservoirs, along with developing new methods of extracting oil and gas from older reservoirs.
Key responsibilities will include: Conducting preliminary surveys of mineral, petroleum and natural gas deposits with OPC APAC Geoscientists to determine the resources present, the feasibility of extracting the reserves and the design and development of the extraction process. Analysing data, conducting computer simulations, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to create drilling, production plans and field development plans. Generating computer-simulated models for drilling formation and equipment, ensuring and designing the best tools and equipment for extraction, and managing machinery and production costs. Building and running reservoir simulation models, well testing analysis and production evaluation of oil, gas and Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) projects. Updating and debugging production databases for Clients. Working closely with drilling specialists, geologists, and other experts to improve well performance and address any challenges that arise during drilling and production activities. Devising methods for controlling the flow of oil and gas from wells. Developing and refining methods of extracting more petroleum from existing wells. Overseeing the process of removing equipment, sealing the reservoir, and disposing of waste materials once the reservoir has been exhausted. Qualifications and requirements: Higher education degree in Petroleum Engineering from an internationally recognised institution. 3-5 years' experience in petroleum engineering, demonstrating expertise in conducting research and providing advice on engineering operations, exploration and extraction of petroleum and natural gas and CCS projects. Proficient in Petroleum Engineering and IPMS software and tools, e.g., t-Navigator, Intersect, PETEX, MBAL, GAP, Resolve, Eclipse. Good IT, research and survey skills. Strong technical, analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills. Good communication, interpersonal, and teamworking skills. Currently residing in Perth, Western Australia with the ability to start immediately. Applications will close on 11th December 2024. Salary Guide: $80,750 per annum plus superannuation.
