Support Worker for Family in Mount Barker Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of others? An opportunity exists for a dedicated and empathetic support worker to join a family in Mount Barker. The family consists of a mother in her mid-40s and two children under 10, all of whom have disabilities. They live in a cosy house with a small dog and chickens. The father works in a demanding job that sometimes requires interstate travel, leaving the mother, a former allied health professional now unable to work due to her disabilities, to care for the children full-time.
Trial Shifts: 3 x 3-hour paid shifts on ThursdaysPotential Hours: Up to 20 hours per week across Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for the right personRequirements: Understands their role is to provide support tailored to the family's needsLived experience or successful work with neurodivergent individualsAbility to meticulously follow a set list of tasks and instructionsGenuinely cares for people and seeks to make a positive impactKind, empathetic, and an excellent communicatorTrustworthy, independent, and adheres to set working timesExperience working within a family homeCapable of performing a range of tasks including cleaning, tidying, laundry, meal preparation, child minding, running errands, making phone calls, and accompanying the mother and children on outings and appointmentsWilling to undertake less pleasant tasks when neededA non-smoker and comfortable not wearing perfume or strong-smelling body products in the homeNo travel allowance offeredResponsibilities: Provide personal care and assistance with daily living activitiesSupport clients with mobility and physical needsAssist with household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and meal preparationOffer companionship and emotional supportAccompany clients to appointments and social outingsRun errands and assist with shoppingMaintain accurate records of care provided and report any changes in clients' conditionsGiven the challenges the family has faced in finding the right support, only those who can meet all the specified requirements should apply.
