Permanent Care Assessor- Casual

Qualifications/Licences Required:

Diploma of Community Services, Youth Services or similar.
For Foster Care only - Registration with ACWA to conduct Step by Step 2020 assessments in Victoria.

Desirable:

A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Youth Work and/or related behavioural sciences at degree level.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experienced in the assessment of prospective Home Base (Permanent) Carers, including preparation of written assessment reports with recommendations as appropriate and provide assessment reports to the Carer Review and Accreditation Panel.
Ability to effectively manage workloads through effective time management, with the ability to work under general supervision.
Well-developed engagement skills and ability to undertake competency-based assessments.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a range of people, including children, caregivers and stakeholders both written and verbal.
Demonstrated understanding of the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing with a particular emphasis on the Child Protection function and legislation.
Understanding of the complex needs of children and young people in Out of Home Care.
