Perioperative Nurse Unit Manager & Clinical Nurse SpecialistDue to retirement, Calvary St Luke's has two exciting opportunities to join the senior leadership team within the Perioperative services: Perioperative Nurse Unit Manager & Perioperative Clinical Nurse Specialist. St Luke's Theatre specializes in ENT and is the largest Orthopaedic surgical provider in Northern Tasmania.
The Nurse Unit Manager is responsible for providing leadership, management and governance to the nursing and ancillary teams, while working with our VMO community to provide optimal care for our patients.
You will be able to demonstrate advanced skills and knowledge in both clinical and non-clinical duties to support staff, Surgeons and Anaesthetists in the smooth running of operating lists, with a key focus on patient safety and optimal patient outcomes.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist is responsible for providing safe, effective and appropriate patient care in a patient-focused environment. In delegation with the Nurse Manager, assisting in the leadership of the perioperative team to achieve optimal patient care, ensuring efficiency of the operating lists and workload.
Both roles are an integral part of the Calvary Launceston Senior Leadership team. As the Nurse Manager and Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will provide leadership to the perioperative team to ensure safe, effective and appropriate patient care in a patient-focused environment. You will have leadership experience within perioperative nursing and sound knowledge around human resource and business management principles.
The roles encompass planning, implementing and evaluating practices, processes and services. These positions require teamwork to achieve excellence in care delivery in line with best practice, governing standards and legislative requirements. The successful applicant will aim to support and entrench a culture of clinical excellence and best practice.
Key Responsibilities Take responsibility to ensure all aspects of patient care services are of the highest standard.Provide leadership to the unit by demonstrating accountability as an autonomous clinician and within a team.Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of care provided and develop strategic plans for areas of deficit.Assess, plan, implement, evaluate and lead peri-operative nursing care in collaboration with individuals and the multidisciplinary health care team, to achieve goals and positive health outcomes.Strong understanding of NSQHS Standards, and knowledge of the accreditation process.Partnering with VMOs for theatre allocation and equipment management.Promoting recruitment and retention of roles within the perioperative space.Responsible and accountable for the financial outcomes of the perioperative services and achieving performance targets.Demonstrate knowledge of safety and quality considerations, clinical governance frameworks and innovative models of care.Ability to demonstrate high levels of communication, interpersonal skills and professional engagement.Support the transition of new staff into the workforce.Commitment to the mission and values of Calvary.You will be joining a team of passionate professionals driven to provide safe, holistic nursing care to each individual patient to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
What you bring The successful candidate will bring the following to the position:
